Sell your STL files with a published 92% creator share
If you design printable parts, the question is not only where people will find your files but how much of each sale you keep, and whether that number is the same next year. This page lays out our split and how it compares with the marketplaces makers use today, using dated sources.
The split
92% of the listed price goes to the creator and 8% funds the platform. There are no tiers to climb, no listing fees and no subscription that unlocks a better rate. On each sale, Stripe sends 92% to your connected account, and the platform's 8% is set as the application fee. Both amounts are itemized, and Stripe's own processing fee comes out of the platform's 8%, not out of your share — which is why a paid listing starts at $6. The platform is ad-free and is funded only by that 8%. See pricing.
How that compares (sources accessed 2026-09-16)
These are the documented terms of each marketplace as of the date above. Terms change, so check the linked source before relying on one.
| Marketplace | What the creator gets | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| This marketplace | 92% of the listed price | Flat, no tiers, no listing fee |
| Cults3D | Not stated here — we could not verify their current rate | See note below |
| MyMiniFactory | Commission of 15%, 12.5% or 10% depending on creator tier | Lower tiers require a creator tier; a legacy tier was $24.99/mo |
| Etsy (digital files) | After a 6.5% transaction fee and a $0.20 listing fee, minus payment processing | Not specific to 3D printing. Etsy does not publish its US processing rate on its own fee page; a third-party guide puts it at 3% + $0.25, which we cannot confirm |
| Printables | Prusameters, exchangeable for Prusa store vouchers | No direct cash-out |
| MakerWorld | Regular points with no cash value | Cash only via the Exclusive Model Program or kit commission |
You choose the licence
Every solution carries a licence you pick: personal use only, commercial (which also allows print-on-demand resale), or attribution-required remix. The licence is shown on the solution page. Print-on-demand ordering is only accepted for commercial-licensed solutions.
Uploads are checked before anyone can download them
Every file is scanned for malware before it can be downloaded. If the scanner cannot be reached, the file stays pending and does not go live. Executables and scripting files are refused. G-code is accepted but flagged as higher risk, because it is machine instructions rather than geometry. If someone uploads your work, the takedown route is public.
Get paid to make new designs, too
Open bounties are requests with money attached. Claim one, submit a solution, and when the poster accepts it, the pledges are charged directly to your Stripe account with a 0% platform fee. You keep the design, so it can go on selling in the catalogue afterwards. See how bounties work.
Where the big marketplaces are stronger
Thingiverse, Printables and MakerWorld have far larger free libraries, backed by printer makers, and this marketplace cannot match their reach today. Our case is a better share and cash payment, not a bigger audience.
What is live today, and what is not
This is a young marketplace, so here is exactly where it stands. Bounties are posted, pledged to and accepted in the MakeBounty app, backed by the same API this site uses. Each bounty and each solution has a public page here. Catalogue checkout with the published split is built in the API; a purchase control on the public solution page is not live yet. Print-on-demand fulfilment is not live yet either: today you receive design files, not a manufactured part.
Frequently asked questions
What share do I keep when a file sells?
92% of the listed price. The platform keeps 8%, set as the Stripe application fee on that sale, and both amounts are itemized.
Is there a tier or subscription for a better rate?
No. There are no tiers, no listing fees and no paid plan that lowers the commission.
Can I control how buyers use my file?
Yes. Every solution carries a licence you choose: personal use only, commercial (which also allows print-on-demand resale), or attribution-required remix.
How are uploaded files checked?
Every file is scanned for malware before it can be downloaded, and a file whose scan cannot complete stays pending. Executables are refused, and G-code is flagged as higher risk.
How do I get paid?
Through Stripe Connect. You onboard a Stripe account once, and your share of each sale and each accepted bounty is paid to that account.
